Public access now available for road leading to Rotunda Roundabout near Temple Trees.
A section of R.A. de Mel Mawatha in Kollupitiya Police area from St. Michael’s Roundabout to the Rotunda Roundabout along Temple Trees was closed for security reasons in 2005.
After a span of 19 years, this particular stretch of road was reopened to the public on 4th October with the involvement of the Ministry of Defence.
Traffic flow will be restricted to one direction due to ongoing road repair works. Once the repairs are completed, vehicles will be permitted to utilize both lanes.
A section of R.A. de Mel Mawatha in Kollupitiya Police area was closed for security reasons in 2005, from St. Michael’s Roundabout to the Rotunda Roundabout along Temple Trees. After 19 years, on October 4th, the road was reopened to the public with the intervention of the Ministry of Defence. Vehicular movement is currently allowed in one direction due to ongoing road repair works, with plans to eventually allow vehicles to use both lanes once the repairs are complete.
