Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe had a meeting with Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), Kriengkrai Thiennukul recently to discuss boosting trade, investment, tourism, and industrial collaboration between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
During the meeting, Ambassador Edirisinghe expressed her gratitude for the chance to have a meaningful conversation. She recognized FTI’s crucial role in driving Thailand’s industrial growth and emphasized the Embassy’s dedication to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Additionally, the Ambassador highlighted the potential for enhancing bilateral trade relations and outlined key opportunities for Thai investors in Sri Lanka, including projects in tourism, value-added agriculture, and export-oriented investments utilizing Sri Lanka’s agricultural potential. She also pointed out opportunities in logistics and infrastructure development due to Sri Lanka’s strategic location in the Indian Ocean, as well as in gemstone mining and renewable energy projects in line with Sri Lanka’s sustainability focus.
Chairman Thiennukul welcomed the discussions and stressed FTI’s commitment to fostering closer ties between Thailand and Sri Lanka. He expressed FTI’s readiness to connect potential industrialists and investors from both countries to explore collaborations and promote mutually beneficial ventures. He also highlighted the Federation’s strong network of industry leaders and its ability to facilitate engagements that can drive economic growth in both nations.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both parties to nurturing economic partnerships and leveraging the strengths of Sri Lanka and Thailand for mutual growth. Counsellor (Commercial) Vireshika Bandara from the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok also participated in the discussion.
