Mr. Charles Callanan, Director of UNOPS South Asia Multi-Country Office, Extends a Courtesy Call to the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka
Mr. Charles Callanan, Director of the South Asia Multi-Country Office of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), recently met with Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, at the Prime Minister’s Office. The discussion centered around enhancing collaboration between UNOPS and the Government of Sri Lanka in key developmental areas. The topics touched upon included initiatives to bolster digitalization in crucial sectors, enhance governance, and tackle environmental and logistical challenges.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of modernizing Sri Lanka’s healthcare sector with digital solutions to enhance accessibility and efficiency. Mr. Callanan pledged UNOPS’ support for this endeavor, recognizing its potential to improve health service delivery. Dr. Amarasuriya also expressed gratitude for UNOPS’ contributions to the Sri Lankan government.
Joining the Sri Lankan delegation were Mr. Pradeep Saputhanthri, Secretary to the Prime Minister; Ms. Sagarika Bogahawatta, Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister; and Ms. Subashini Silva, Deputy Director of the United Nations & Human Rights Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
