The Parliament will be in session from August 6th to August 9th.
The Parliament is set to meet from the 6th to the 9th. The agenda for the week was determined at the Committee on Parliamentary Business chaired by Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, the Speaker.
On Tuesday, the 06th, time has been allocated from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. for Questions for Oral Answers. Following that, the Opposition’s Adjournment Debate on the failure of the levee barrier along the Nilwala River will be held from 10.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
On Wednesday, the 07th, time has been designated from 9.30 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. for Questions for Oral Answers, followed by the Government’s Adjournment Debate on the Mid – Year Fiscal Position Report – 2024, from 10.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
On Thursday, the 08th, time has been scheduled from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. for Questions for Oral Answers. This will be followed by the Second Reading of Two Medical (Amendment) Bills from 10.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Questions at the Adjournment Time will take place from 5.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Friday, the 09th has been set aside for the Votes of Condolence for the late Hon. Ronnie De Mel, ex-M.P and Minister. The Committee on Parliamentary Business has therefore allocated time from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. to pay tribute to the former minister.
The Parliament is scheduled to convene from the 6th to the 9th, with the business for the week decided by the Committee on Parliamentary Business. On Tuesday, there will be Questions for Oral Answers followed by an Adjournment Debate on the failure of a levee barrier. Wednesday will feature more Questions for Oral Answers and an Adjournment Debate on the Mid-Year Fiscal Position Report. Thursday will have Questions for Oral Answers and the Second Reading of Two Medical (Amendment) Bills. Friday will be dedicated to Votes of Condolence for the late Hon. Ronnie De Mel.
