The Colombo Justice of the Peace’s Courtroom immediately (10 Jan.) additional remanded YouTuber Sepal Amarasinghe till 17 January.

Amarasinghe was remanded till immediately on 06 January, on orders of Colombo Further Justice of the Peace Tharanga Mahawatta, over the current controversial statements he made concerning the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy, generally often called the ‘Sri Dalada Maligawa’.

He was arrested in Bellanwila by the Legal Investigation Division (CID) on 05 January after the general public complaints division of the CID commenced probes into the matter.

Investigations into the matter commenced when the Inspector Common of Police (IGP) C. D. Wickramaratne obtained a number of written complaints on this regard.

In the meantime, the chief prelates of Malwatta and Asgiriya chapters, Most Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thero and Most Ven. Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero additionally wrote to President Ranil Wickremesinghe, elevating considerations concerning the offensive statements made by Amarasinghe, and urged the federal government to take essential measures to nip the matter within the bud.
