Kala Oya under Flood Warning
A significant amount of rainfall has been experienced in Up and mid stream areas of Kala Oya as of 5.00 pm today.
Rajanganaya reservoir is currently overflowing at a rate of 17000 cubic feet per second. Based on the analysis of this situation and the river water levels of hydrological stations in Kala Oya, it has been warned that there is a potential for a flood in low-lying areas of Kala Oya valley located in Rajanganaya Nochchiyagama, Wanathavilluva and Karuwalagaswewa DS Divisions.
Due to this, there is a high risk of flooding Off-Roads that pass through the flood plains of Kala Oya. Residents in those areas and drivers passing through are urged to be vigilant. Disaster Management Authorities are urged to take appropriate measures in this regard.
