Message from the President for the New Year
As Sri Lankans, we enter 2025 ushering in a new era, where the long-held dreams of prosperity for our nation and its people are starting to come to fruition.
The 2024 parliamentary elections allowed us to form a government with a strong majority, gaining the confidence of people from the North, East, West, and South. With this mandate, we have begun a transformative political transition, fulfilling our democratic duties to establish the good governance our citizens desire.
Our main developmental objectives include eradicating rural poverty, launching the “Clean Sri Lanka” campaign, and fostering a digital economy. The inception of the “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative, introduced at the start of the New Year, aims to uplift society through societal, environmental, and ethical rejuvenation.
In 2024, we attained notable economic stability as a nation. Building on this progress, we move into 2025 with renewed purpose and dedication, working towards the creation of a thriving nation and ensuring a quality life for all. I firmly believe this moment signifies a remarkable opportunity to instill new values and nurture greater unity for the betterment of all.
For the first time in Sri Lanka’s post-independence history, we have the chance to turn the vision of a united and developed nation into reality through governance that centers on the people. This unique responsibility lies with all of us, and we fully grasp its significance. In 2025, with courage and unwavering resolve, we will strive to recapture the victories that eluded us in the past century and make these dreams a reality.
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year filled with prosperity, unity, and renewed hope as we work together towards peace and progress.
