How To Get There:

Route 1:

  • Depart from Colombo and head towards Ratnapura via the A4 highway.
  • At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Balangoda bypass road.
  • Continue on the Balangoda bypass road and then turn right to stay on A4 highway.
  • Keep driving and you will pass by the Wellawaya Petrol Shed on your right after approximately 33.5 kilometers.
  • At the next roundabout, take the second exit onto Panama road.
  • Continue on Panama road, passing by Pottuvil Junction Clock Tower on your right.
  • Then, turn right towards Panama-Kumbukkana road.
  • Follow Panama-Kumbukkana road for about 27.3 kilometers.
  • You will reach Kumana Sanctuary, Bagura Kalapuwa, Diwulpallama, and finally Bambaragasthalawa after approximately 18 kilometers.
  • In total, the distance from Colombo to Kumana National Park via this route is approximately 380 kilometers, and it takes around 7 hours to complete the journey.

Route 2:

  • Start your journey from Colombo and head towards Kandy.
  • From Kandy, take the route towards Uraniya via Bibile-Uraniya-Mahiyangana road.
  • Continue on Bibile-Uraniya-Mahiyangana road until you reach the Colombo-Ratnapura-Wellawaya-Batticaloa highway.
  • Turn left onto the Colombo-Ratnapura-Wellawaya-Batticaloa highway.
  • Continue on the highway, passing by Lahugala Rural Hospital.
  • At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Panama road.
  • Keep driving on Panama road, passing by Pottuvil Junction Clock Tower.
  • Then, turn left onto Panama-Kumbukkana road.
  • Follow Panama-Kumbukkana road until you reach Kumana Sanctuary, Bagura Kalapuwa, Diwulpallama, and Bambaragasthalawa after approximately 18 kilometers.
