Parliament to convene from 23rd to 26th May

Parliament will convene from the twenty third to the twenty sixth Could, determined the Committee on Parliamentary Enterprise lately.

It was determined to allot time from 9.30 am to 10.30 am for Questions for Oral Solutions on Could 23 and 24.

Accordingly, Parliament shall meet on Tuesday twenty third Could at 9.30am and from 10.30am to five.00pm the second studying of the Betting and Gaming Levy (Modification) Invoice, Order beneath the Port and Airports Improvement Levy Act printed in Gazette No. 2312/67, Order beneath the Excise (Particular Provisions) Act printed beneath the Gazette No. 2312/68 67, Notification beneath the Excise Ordinance printed within the Gazette Notification 2312/70 are scheduled to be taken up for debate.

Furthermore, Laws beneath the Tobacco Tax Act printed within the Gazette No. 2312/71, Order beneath the Stamp Obligation (Particular Provisions) Act printed within the Gazette No. 2312/73, Laws beneath the Securities and Trade Fee of Sri Lanka Act printed within the Gazette No. 2316/32 and Order beneath the Finance Act, No. 25 of 2003 printed within the Gazette No. 2309/37 are additionally scheduled to be taken up for debate to be handed in Parliament.

Thereafter, from 5.00 pm to five.30 pm, the Movement on the Adjournment Time by the Authorities is scheduled to be taken up. 

In accordance with Sri Lanka Public Utilities Fee Act No. 35 of 2002 on Wednesday the twenty fourth of Could from 10.30 am to five.00 pm the handle for the removing of Mr. J. W. M. J.P. Okay Ratnayake, the incumbent Chairman and the member of the Public Utilities Fee of Sri Lanka, from the membership of the mentioned Fee when it comes to Part 7 of the Public Utilities Fee of Sri Lanka Act can also be scheduled to be taken up for debate.

Thereafter, from 5.00 pm to five.30 pm, time has ben allotted for Questions on the Adjournment Time. 

Time from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm on Thursday twenty fifth Could has been allotted for the vote of appreciation on the retiring Secretary Basic of the Parliament Mr. Dhammika Dasanayake, who will retire with impact from Could twenty second.

Thereafter from 12.30 pm to five.00 pm Order beneath the Finance Act No. 25 of 2003 printed in Gazette No. 2309/37, Laws beneath the Finance Act No. 11 of 2004 printed in Gazette No. 2312/80, and Orders beneath the Finance Act No. 35 of 2018 printed in Gazette No. 2312/69 and 2318/53 are scheduled to be taken up for debate to be handed.

Moreover, it was additionally determined to approve the Settlement between the Authorities of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Authorities of the Czech Republic for the avoidance of Double Taxation and the prevention of Tax Evasion with respect to Taxes on Revenue, entered into on 03rd February 2023.

Thereafter, from 5.00 pm to five.30 pm, the Movement on the Adjournment Time by the Opposition is scheduled to be taken up. 

It was additionally determined to put aside your complete day of Friday, Could twenty fifth, for the vote of condolence of the Hon. M. Joseph Michael Perera, ex-M.P. and former Speaker of Parliament. Accordingly, the time from 9.30 am to five.30 pm on that day has been reserved for the vote of condolences.
