President Commits to Bolstering Sri Lanka’s Global Image as a Law-Abiding Nation

President Anura Kumara Disanayake underscored his steadfast dedication to enhancing Sri Lanka’s international reputation, not as a state protected by political influence, but as a country that is well-governed and adheres to the rule of law.
President Disanayake noted that despite Sri Lanka’s abundance of resources and natural blessings, past leaders did not lead it towards success due to inadequate planning. He emphasized that the current administration is diligently and methodically reconstructing the national economy, prioritizing stability and long-term growth.
These comments were made by President Anura Kumara Disanayake yesterday afternoon (30), during the religious ceremony marking the opening of the Relic Chamber (Dathu Mandiraya) and the unveiling of the Meth Bodhisattva statue at the Siri Samadhi Maha Viharaya in Pahaminiyagama, Galkiriyagama.
The President attended the event at the invitation of the Venerable Kagama Sirinanda Thero. After the Relic Chamber was opened, he had the honour of offering the first floral tribute as part of the ceremony.
During the ensuing ceremony, President Disanayake addressed the audience, affirming that his actions have never been driven by personal ambition or the desire for power. As a leader empathetic to the people’s struggles, he is fully devoted to building a prosperous nation for all citizens.
The President stressed that the government is actively working to ensure the rule of law and create a unified nation for everyone. He vowed to diligently protect future generations from the drug threat, while also reinforcing the institutional framework to effectively combat illegal drug trafficking and related crimes.
President Disanayake acknowledged the significant role the Maha Sangha, including the country’s religious leaders, play in cultivating a healthy and compassionate society, which is vital for creating the prosperous nation everyone desires. He expressed gratitude for the invaluable social and religious contributions of Ven. Kagama Sirinanda Thero in this regard.
The event was attended by notable religious figures including the Anuradhapura Atamasthanadhipathi, Chief Sanghanayaka of Nuwara Kalaviya Ven. Pallégama Hemarathana Nayaka Thera, The Tri-Nikaya Maha Sangha, led by Venerable Mahalakotwe Wimaladhamma Thero, the Chief Sangha Nayaka for the Matale District of the Malwatta Chapter of the Siam Maha Nikaya. Also present were Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development Wasantha Samarasinghe and Member of Parliament Thilina Samarakoon, among others.

He stressed the role of religious leaders in fostering a compassionate society. The event was attended by key religious figures and political leaders, including Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe and MP Thilina Samarakoon.
