The government plans to simplify the application process for the President’s Fund, allowing citizens to apply at the Divisional Secretariat Division level, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya announced in Parliament on February 5.

To achieve this, the President’s Fund is expanding its application acceptance services across all 341 Divisional Secretariat Divisions, facilitating payments through Divisional Secretariat Offices, and providing essential training to officers handling fund-related matters.

Additionally, a new digital system will be introduced to streamline these operations. This system will enable online applications, making the fund more accessible and efficient for the public.

Prime Minister Dr. Amarasuriya further emphasized that past misuses of the President’s Fund will be investigated and disclosed, reaffirming the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability in fund management. She assured Parliament that strict measures will be in place to prevent future misuse and ensure that the Fund serves its intended purpose effectively.
