Request to return Coats of Arms with archaeological value lost during protests

The Secretary to the President Saman Ekanayake has requested to return the Coats of Arms with archaeological worth that belonged to Sri Lanka’s former Governors and previous Presidents, which have been misplaced through the protests within the interval between July 9 and July 14, 2022.

He has requested that they be returned by July thirty first 2023, the President’s Media Division (PMD) reported.

Throughout the occupation of the Colombo Fort Presidential Palace by protesters from July ninth to July 14th, 2022, numerous precious artifacts and archaeological gadgets went lacking, together with coats of arms related to former governors and presidents of Sri Lanka, the PMD talked about.

Ekanayake has emphasised that retaining possession of those official insignia past the required interval will lead to authorized penalties, because the illegal possession of state property is a punishable offence.
