Several spells of showers expected in parts of the island

The Division of Meteorology says a number of spells of showers will happen in North-Central, Jap and Uva provinces and in Matale district.

Showers or thundershowers will happen at a number of locations in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts throughout the afternoon or evening. 

Pretty heavy showers above 50mm could be anticipated at some locations in Sabaragamuwa province and in Kalutara and Galle districts.  

Common public is kindly requested to take enough precautions to attenuate damages attributable to short-term localized robust winds and lightning throughout thundershowers.

Sea Areas:

Showers or thundershowers will happen at a number of locations within the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Pottuvil through Trincomalee and Batticaloa.  

Showers or thundershowers will happen at a number of locations within the different sea areas across the Island throughout the afternoon or evening.

Winds can be north-easterly and wind velocity can be 25-35 kmph. It could enhance as much as 45-55 kmph at instances over the ocean areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Colombo through Kankasanthurai, Mannar and Puttalam and the ocean areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil.

Sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Colombo through Kankasanthurai, Mannar and Puttalam and the ocean areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil can be tough at instances. The opposite sea areas across the island can be average. 

Briefly robust gusty winds and really tough seas could be anticipated throughout thundershowers.
