The President Holds Meeting with Ministry of Tourism Officials

President Anura Kumara Disanayake emphasized the critical importance of delivering high-quality infrastructure and services to tourists visiting Sri Lanka, as the country has achieved noteworthy international acclaim as an appealing tourist destination.
Consequently, the President directed officials to give this issue special attention and implement the necessary actions.
President Disanayake provided these directives during a discussion today (17) at the Presidential Secretariat, attended by officials from the Ministry of Tourism.
In the course of the discussion, officials informed the President about the budgetary allocations specified for the Ministry of Tourism and the initiatives being executed using those funds.
With the tourism sector progressing to a new level, Sri Lanka aims to welcome three million tourists this year. The discussion also comprehensively addressed the utilization of these budgetary allocations to enhance essential infrastructure in support of this objective.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tourism and Foreign Employment Vijitha Herath, Deputy Minister of Tourism Dr. Ruwan Ranasinghe, Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage, Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Aruni Ranaraja, along with a group of senior officials from the Ministry of Tourism, were present for this discussion.
President Anura Kumara Disanayake emphasized enhancing infrastructure and services for tourists in Sri Lanka, as the country garners acclaim as a leading tourist destination. In a discussion at the Presidential Secretariat on the 17th, he urged officials to prioritize this initiative. Attendees, including government and tourism officials, reviewed budgetary allocations for the Ministry of Tourism and outlined projects funded by these resources. With an ambitious goal to attract three million tourists this year, the focus is on utilizing funds effectively to develop necessary infrastructure. Participants included senior officials from the tourism and foreign affairs sectors.
