The President Holds Meeting with ‘Udayan’ Newspaper Staff
President Ranil Wickremesinghe recognized the importance of finding a lasting solution to the ethnic problem.
However, he stressed that, at this moment, it is essential for all Sri Lankans to come together to rebuild the nation, putting aside ethnic and religious divisions.
The President made these comments during a meeting with the employees of the ‘Udayan’ newspaper yesterday (03) in Jaffna. Various other journalists from the region were also in attendance.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe, during his visit to Jaffna, participated in a meeting where he was warmly welcomed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Udayan Newspaper and Member of Parliament E. Saravanabhavan, as well as Chief Editor Mr. T. Prabhakaran and other staff members.
The President had a friendly interaction with the journalists and responded positively to some of their inquiries.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe emphasized that the main challenge facing the country was overcoming financial difficulties. He mentioned that after resolving this issue last June, he can now focus on addressing other issues.
The President mentioned that during his recent visit to Jaffna, the youth’s main concerns were job opportunities and future stability. He pointed out that the aspirations of the youth are similar in both the North and South.
The President also expressed his aim to create more opportunities for provincial development by strengthening the provincial councils. He reassured that the central government will assist each province in this effort.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe emphasized the need for a permanent solution to the ethnic issue in Sri Lanka. He called for unity among all Sri Lankans, setting aside racial and religious differences to build the country. During a meeting with the staff of the ‘Udayan’ newspaper in Jaffna, the President discussed the challenges faced by the country, including overcoming bankruptcy. He highlighted the importance of addressing concerns such as employment opportunities and future stability, especially for the youth. President Wickremesinghe also mentioned his goal of strengthening provincial development by supporting provincial councils and ensuring ample opportunities for each province.
