Attending the Sri Lankan Rice and Curry cooking class was an incredible experience. We prepared traditional curry under the guidance of experienced Sri Lankan woman, who were exceptionally kind and patient. From extracting coconut milk to simmering the curry, every step was captivating. Finally, we savored all our creations, which exceeded our expectations.+ little bonus : she made us pancake, best of my life !!I highly recommend it to anyone eager to delve into the essence of Sri Lankan cuisine. Immersed in a Sri Lankan family setting, this moment was filled with exchanges and sharing not only about Sri Lankan cuisine but also their customs, way of life etc !

We loved the market tour and cooking class. The market was bustling, loud and fun. The cooking class was very relaxed and homestyle with just 8 people, we made so many different dishes and had a huge feast. Can’t wait to host a dinner party with my new cooking skills.

Great experience. We booked the class with market tour with hotel pickup/return included. This was especially convenient as the class itself took place in a quiet remote residential area up the hills close to Kandy) at the private home of the chef and her family. The market was obviously vibrant, packed with locals and loud. So loud that you actually had problems to understand everything the chef (nice, elderly lady) was buying. Small intro about what we are goimg to shop would have been nice. But it was fine. The class itself took place at the private home of the chef’s family, inclluding a traditional kitchen (clay oven with fire), but also some gas cookers. It was a communal cooking experience, with an intro to the spices, herbs and vegetables we bought at the market. Do not expect your own working station, but a shared experience. You cut, mix, taste and cook together. For us perfect, as you can involve yourself as much as you like. For instance in preparing coconut milk from the scratch. It was an enjoyable, delicious and long night. We would do it again.

We really enjoyed the cooking class led by Shamaya and Nindani in Kandy. It offered an authentic glimpse into traditional cooking, where we were hands-on from start to finish. The host was an excellent (and very cute and funny) guide, providing easy-to-understand instructions. The class you take part with other people (we were 8in total) is immersive, encouraging you to dive into the cooking process yourself (shredding coconut, mixing and using spices, cutting and discovering new vegetables)Make sure to arrive with an appetite, as you’ll have to taste all the generous portions of everything you prepare! Our January session was made even more delightful thanks to the warmth and humor of the team. Their friendliness made it feel like cooking among family. For anyone in Kandy looking for a genuine and enjoyable culinary experience, I highly recommend this class. It strikes the perfect balance between simplicity and pedagogy, leaving you both satisfied and smiling :)Ps: they also organized pick-up by tuk-tuk (to come and for the way back) which is a nice plus!

Because we have learned to love Sinhalese food from previous holidays, we wanted to learn to cook too. That’s why we took a whole week of lessons here. And it was incredibly worth it. We learned a lot and everything tasted incredibly good. Nandani and Yasani (Sudesh’s mother and wife) are great women who warmly welcomed us into their family. The cooking class begins with a short explanation of all the spices and then everyone can choose a vegetable that they would like to eat. Afterwards, the vegetables are cut together and coconut milk is made. You now have to help yourself when cooking; individual requests are always taken into account. I can highly recommend the cooking course. It was an experience that we will never forget. If we could give more points, we would. Thanks!!!
